The Cost of Saying Yes
Have you ever noticed that whenever God calls someone in Scripture, He rarely tells them the entire journey? He simply asks for one step.
Abraham was asked to leave his homeland.
Moses was asked to return to Egypt.
Esther was asked to approach the king.
Peter was asked to step out of the boat.
None of them knew everything that would happen after they said yes. Yet every one of them discovered something remarkable:
God's faithfulness is always greater than our fear. Sometimes we hesitate because we're focused on what we might lose. God invites us to focus on what He wants to accomplish through our obedience.
Every Calling Has a Cost
We often celebrate the blessings that come from following Christ. But Scripture is equally honest about the cost. Saying yes to God may require...
Comfort.
Convenience.
Time.
Energy.
Patience.
Sometimes even misunderstanding from others. Mentorship is no different. Walking beside another woman requires intentionality.
It requires listening when you're tired.
Praying when your schedule is full.
Showing up consistently.
Choosing faithfulness over convenience.
But here's the beautiful truth:
Anything we surrender to God becomes an opportunity for Him to multiply.
Jesus Never Called Comfortable Disciples
When Jesus invited His disciples to follow Him, He didn't promise an easy road. He promised His presence. There is a tremendous difference.
Our culture often pursues comfort.
The Kingdom pursues obedience.
Comfort asks,
"What's easiest?"
Faith asks,
"What honors God?"
Mentorship is not always convenient. But it is deeply meaningful. Every prayer offered. Every encouraging conversation. Every tear shared. Every Scripture opened together. These moments become eternal investments.
What We Gain Is Greater Than What We Give
When we hear the word sacrifice, we often think about loss. But God sees something different. He sees transformation.
The woman you encourage grows stronger.
Your own faith deepens.
Your compassion expands.
Your dependence on Christ increases.
Your life begins leaving fingerprints on eternity.
Yes, following God's calling requires something from us. But it also gives us something we could never create on our own: The joy of participating in His work.
Life Application
This week, ask yourself: What has fear been asking me to protect?
Then ask another question: What is faith inviting me to surrender?
There is freedom on the other side of obedience.
Reflection Questions
What has God been asking you to trust Him with?
What fears have delayed your obedience?
How has God proven His faithfulness in previous seasons?
What would your "yes" make possible for someone else?
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for always walking with me wherever You call me. Forgive me for the times I've allowed fear to speak louder than faith. Help me trust that Your plans are always better than my comfort. Teach me to surrender my time, my gifts, and my heart completely to You.
May my obedience bring glory to Your name and hope to those You place in my path. In Jesus' name, amen.
